THE NEW KLAN

You’ve probably read the stories, seen the photos and videos.  There’s been an uprising in this country, and it’s been growing.  People have apparently had enough, and they’re speaking out.

Am I talking about injustice, and the American people taking to the streets in the name of what’s right and fair?

No.

Perhaps I refer to people facing inequality in rights that are freely offered to others who are considered just a little more normal than them.

Maybe, in a way.

Could be that I’m referring to angry consumers acting out against ice cream parlors who used call their big sundae a Jim Dandy, when it’s really more like a Jim Diddly considering how much less ice cream you get these days.

Well, not tonight – but that would be cool.  I think that they make the sundae dishes thicker so they don’t have to put as much in to fill them up, but I digress.

I’m actually referring to something that I touched on the other day.

The Health Care bill passed the other day. Wonderful.  It’s chock full of concessions installed to appease those who are more interested in towing a fucking party line than actually solving a serious issue that has plagued this country for many years.  Our health care system has been a ridiculous joke for decades.  People have died because they couldn’t afford insurance, or medication they needed to survive.  When they can’t afford the insurance, they don’t seek medical assistance when they’re sick therefore getting sicker, and often, spreading it to others making them sick.

Families have gone bankrupt trying to pay medical bills for sick kids because procedures were denied by crooked insurance companies.  And don’t get me started on them – with their obscene profits they’ve been more than capable to afford the best lobbyist’s to influence the politicians who keep them in the business of sucking us all dry.  I can go on and on – yet, there are apparently an awful lot of people in this country who think this is all wonderful, and have been vehemently opposed to any sort of change.

OK, I get it, people hate change.

Problem is, and I fear that it’s true, is that what’s going on these days is so much deeper than that.  You see there’s these tea baggers, tea partiers, whatever the fuck they’re calling themselves it involves tea (I prefer coffee myself) and they are rallying aggressively against absolutely anything any Democrat proposes.  A large part of their rallying cry has been to point out how little good “change” that our current administration has been able to create, and that anything they suggest is sure to lead to the complete destruction of our nation.  Might just be me, but I’m thinking that one of the reasons change has been so slow to come is because of the constant roadblocks and opposition put up by Republicans, often even when proposals are made that includes items that were supported by Republicans in the previous administration.

Seems one party is rousing some of our countries lowest common denominator, and some easily swayed lunatics to come out of the woodwork and cause trouble.  Unfortunately, one particular troublemaker (who won’t get the benefit of a link here – Google it yourself if you care too) has been getting a lot of attention to his blog for calling for all Americans opposed to health care reform to go out and break the windows on the home of any Democrat who supported the health care bills passing.

Brilliant.

Why don’t we leave a steaming bag of dog shit on their front porch so they’ll soil their shoes when they step outside on their way to ruin your life while we’re at it?

This movement is rather large – and filled with plenty of angry white religious right types who throw hissy fits when they don’t get their way.  There’s been Twitter threats made against the life of the President by a couple of tea party assholes.  Right wing bloggers are inciting violence against democrats, their families and supporters.  Some misguided sheep have actually followed the advice of the clown with the blog and gone out and smashed windows at the homes and offices of democratic politicians who supported the bill.  Racial and anti-gay slurs have been liberally tossed at legislators known to support the bill.  Gas lines were severed at the home of a Virginia Congressman’s brother as a right wing group posted that man’s address on another ignorant blog.

Can you think of another movement that this country has seen that rallied large angry groups of misguided morons to oppose, violently or otherwise, a group of people based primarily on mob mentality?  I can, it was known as the Ku Klux Klan.  Maybe you’ve heard about them.

Can’t help but feel that there are an awful lot of ignorant people out there using the guise of anger against health care reform to project their inherent racist attitude against the fact that they can’t stand that our President is black.  They’ve had to tuck away those feelings for a long time, as great strides were made over the past four decades towards racial equality, but put a black guy in the most powerful position in the country and they just can’t take it any longer.

I may be of only modest intelligence – so how come I can look at the fact that our President is black and say “so what?”  How come I could look at the fact that he’s a Democrat and say “so what?”  I don’t base my opinions or actions on meaningless facts like that.  If I didn’t like the health care bill, I’d say so – but sort of doubt I’d call for anyone’s head, and frankly – I wish it had gone further and people could realize that a single-payer system, like that in Canada and Europe, although a dramatic change to what we’re used to in this free market society, works.  It’s not socialized medicine as so many poorly informed tea baggers would have you believe.

If more of the people shouting and calling for violence simply stepped back and learned about the broken system that we’ve been enduring, maybe they’d change their tune.  Then again, if you’re of the mind who finds it acceptable to toss a brick through the window of someone’s whose views you oppose, you probably didn’t have enough schooling to learn to read and comprehend anyway.  And it’s these people who are being organized to go out and spread their venom.  If this keeps up, we’ll wind up in a police state for the safety of innocent children and families.

And when that happens – who are the fucktards who caused it going to blame?  Right – everyone but themselves.  I hate the shit I’m seeing out there, and worry that if we don’t act swiftly to curb the insanity that we’re going to spiral out of control faster than 12/21/12 can get here.  I’m not a Democrat – but I gotta tell ya – if I was a Republican, I’d be damn embarrassed by the simple fact that their party is associated with this venomous activity.  It’s high time we revisited the stupidity of a two party system; all it does is drag us down by slowing down any real change anyway.

That’s for another time.

Look, I’m not one to be led on by what a blog tells me, and hopefully neither are you.  But there are some out there who can inform you as to what the fuck is going on – the trick is, read what they say – then if something sparks your interest, research and investigate the topic.  Then forge your opinion.

MARCH 2016 – I used to have some timely and intelligent links here – but most of them are lost now…I could find similar – but I’m quite lazy – find ’em yourself.

Here’s a big fuck you to any bigot who might have read this far …
